In this book, the author tells the story of everyday life in New York during the 1920s. We follow the lives of a newspaper boy with desperate dreams, an officre clerk who loses himself writing novels, a beautiful model and an ancient museum curator who dreams of finding an African diamond. These livesseem to be unconnected, but they will coincide dramatically at the end of the book.
